? How To Find Job Clubs Near You

? How To Find Job Clubs Near You 104 Kickstart a long job search or start a new search right by joining a job club, one of the most helpful things that many job seekers never think to do. Photo by Dylan Gillis My friend and executive resume writer Donna Svei calls job clubs “the top habit of exceptionally successful job seekers.” In her article about job clubs, my friend and fellow job search expert Susan Joyce mentions how “a 2014 U.S. Department of Labor study found that job club participation increased job search success for members of the study from 22% (those with no club participation) to 74% (those who attended weekly meetings).” I wish I had joined a job club back on my long job search in 2001-2002. It might have saved me from becoming job search depressed, and that search probably wouldn't have been nearly as long or as frustrating. Grrr. eval What is a job club program? A job club is a group of people who meet regularly with the common goal of finding a better job. Often, a job club will be organized and lead by a career expert who will coach and teach members how to get better results, through activities such as proofreading your resume, helping you target employers and prepare for job interviews.eval Job clubs are also meant to be job search moral support groups, helping job seekers through the ups and downs of their searches, and job clubs may also act as networking groups, where members share leads with each other. While many job clubs are simply for local community job seekers, sometimes the club will be grouped differently, such as for a specific profession, industry, age group, people with autism, people with a disability… you name it. If all this doesn't sound good to you, I'd love to hear why in the comments. So where do you find local job clubs? I've compiled a long list for you here below. Designing for the Online Socialite Branding Yourself through Social Media

Designing for the Online Socialite ‘Branding Yourself’ through Social Media There’s no denying reality; the age of social media is definitely upon us! Recent studies suggest that on average, we spend a minimum of 2 hours a day on social media.  And this figure is rising each year. As we begin to live life digitally, the importance of controlling your online image has becomes more important than what you wear.   What you type online is fast becoming more important than what you say in real life. With this in mind, it’s understandable why people spend so much time tweaking their posts and updates, beautifying their portraits and designing their latest event invitations.   After all, the internet IS a public domain. As the world’s single largest social media platform, Facebook is the primary way we communicate and share information.  That makes it an important tool for anyone to master. With the ability to upload photos, organize events, spread information and build a fan base, Facebook is irrefutably one of the most significant developments of the 21st century. Thankfully, following the rise of this social media behemoth, many online designers and photo enhancers began specializing in Facebook covers, posts and event art. When your Facebook looks good, it attracts people. We all know of the myriad memes and pics which ‘went viral’ due to the interconnected nature of modern social media, emphasizing the importance of aesthetics when getting your message across.  Fotor Fotor is an awesome site for online photo editing.  Like a number of established designing/image enhancement platforms, Fotor is streamlined with Facebook,  making it a great starting place to ‘beautify’ your posting. The templates used by facebook are typically  for covers,  for posts and for events.  All of these can be found in the ‘design’ section of Fotor, along with a sizeable number of pre-designed templates. Thankfully, these days one doesn’t need a ‘diploma of Photoshop’ to become a social media superstar.  With such a huge range of free and online designers available, you can do it all and more with never before seen efficiency. Fotor is one such online designer. With loads of great features and templates, we will be using this great program to show you how to give your social media the ultimate ‘makeover’! Facebook and Fotor To begin, let’s look at the biggest social media platform on the planet Earth, Facebook. Not just a platform to share trending memes and pics of your pets.   Facebook is now the first thing potential employers will check, as well as your primary way of communicating with friends and family. Spending a few minutes to ensure every post you make is a good one is never a bad investment.   Which is why we began using Fotor to do some basic edits. Fotor’s ‘Graphic Design’ feature is broken down into a number of templates, based on functionality. The ‘Facebook Posts’ and ‘Facebook Covers’ offer a range of pre-designed options for different types of posts. As we’ll be focusing on the Facebook designs, we’ll begin with the standard template: Using Fotor To begin, think carefully about the type of post you’re going to make. There’re loads of pre-made designs to choose from.  In this case we chose a fairly standard ‘Part Time’ event template:   For this design, we’ll keep the current background image but alter the text: Removing the background overlays, we can change the script easily to suite your post.     To bring out the text, we added a simple quadrangle from the ‘basic shapes’ sticker box.  Then, we altered the transparency before shifting it’s ‘overlay’ layer to the background. And its that simple! As the background and other elements we not heavily modified, this whole process took us under 4 minutes.  Imagine what we could achieve in 5! While this took us such a short period of time to accomplish, there are literally hours of creative fun to be had. Fotor, like many online editors, lets you enhance photos.  Meaning,  you completely design a Facebook post or cover entirely from scratch! Fotor:  Check it Out! We’ll continue playing around with this platform, but in the meantime, we recommend you check it out and discover for yourself. Social media will only become more important and staying ahead of the pack is half the challenge! Image credits Main      Facebook

However, for women of any age, selecting the appropriate supplements can be an overwhelming choice as the options are many. Each of them plays a different role in your body and touts several benefits. The way in which   supplements provide benefits to your body   depends entirely on your lifestyle, diet, life stage and routine. Folic Acid Speaking biologically, women who are in their 30s are known to be in their childbearing years and irrespective of whether you’re trying to get pregnant, taking folic acid is a must as it helps you in maintaining your good health. Resume Writing Tips For Seniors

Resume Writing Tips For SeniorsIf you are a senior citizen looking to improve your job prospects, you should follow a few resume writing tips for seniors. A good first step is to study the skills and abilities that your potential employer is looking for in their workforce. How do you expect to stand out from the rest of the candidates if you don't even take the time to take care of yourself? While some people consider social networking to be the holy grail of career building, it's really the beginning of the road to success. You should know how to build a profile on MySpace or Facebook and get involved in online community discussions and support groups.Once you have a way to create your profile and show your interests, you can move on to the next step of determining your career path. The best way to get this done is to join the Chamber of Commerce, visit your local chamber of commerce, or attend a job fair. Usually the smaller organizations will have a volunteer coordinator that can h elp you determine what kind of career path you want to take. Once you decide where you would like to work, you should then look up what the market needs and then go about creating a resume to match. An advantage of preparing for this step when you are in college or high school graduation is that it lets you plan ahead, something which isn't always possible when you are older. The older generation tends to be very goal-oriented and ambitious. They are still going through the process of planning their lives and figuring out how they will make it as a result of the change in their life. When you think about the various positions that you might need to fill in your future employment, you might be wondering how the senior citizen might fit in. This is where the resume writing tips for seniors come in. Your resume should highlight your expertise in certain areas of your expertise and any additional qualifications that are relevant to the role that you are seeking. You should consider keeping your own resume up to date and including all of the information that is pertinent to the position that you are applying for. It is not uncommon for employers to view resumes that contain outdated information as being sloppy and not professional. Even though you might have to submit a lot of copies of your resume, do not forget to include any pertinent information that might be important to the employer. If you are unable to spend the time updating your resume, you should find out what your current employment situation is. If you have a current job, you should try to find out if you could be working on your resume to be considered for another job. Some employers, even though they are having trouble finding a job for a particular position, will be willing to give you a chance even if they are only interviewing at this time. For the most part, the last thing that your resume should focus on is your skill set. The ability to speak clearly articulate your accomplishments should be at the top of your resume. One of the best resume writing tips for seniors, whether you are an adult or a senior, is to make sure that your resume doesn't just have your name on it, but your skills and experiences as well.

Australian Train Driver Interview Tips - Interview Technique

Australian Train Driver Interview Tips - Interview Technique If you’re applying to become a train driver in Australia, then you will have to sit at least one interview. Here, we’re going to take a look at some Australian train driver interview tips to improve your chances of passing the interview. How to Prepare Effectively for the Australian Train Driver InterviewDuring your preparation for the interview we recommend that you concentrate on the following three key areas:Interview technique;Research;Responding to the interview questions. Each of the above areas is equally important.  Let’s take a look at Interview Technique.Interview Technique Interview technique covers a number of different areas. The majority of candidates will pay it little, if any attention at all. Interview technique basically involves the following key areas:Creating the right impression. When you walk into the interview room you should stand up tall, smile and be polite and courteous to the panel. Do not sit down in the interview chair until invited to do so.Being presentable. During my time as an interviewer for a number of different jobs I have been amazed at the number of people who turn up inappropriately dressed. We’ve seen people turn up for interviews in jeans, t shirts and trainers. We strongly advise that you take the time to look smart and presentable. Remember you are applying to join an organisation that requires you to wear a uniform. If you dress smart and formal for the interview, then you are far more likely to wear your uniform with pride.Sitting in the chair. The interview could last for up to an hour, depending on the length of your responses to the questions. This is a long time to concentrate for. Whilst in the interview chair sit up right at all times and never slouch.Motivation. Throughout the duration of the interview demonstrate a high level of motivation and enthusiasm. You do not want to come across as desperate, but conversely you must come across as highly motivated and determined to be successful. Always smile and be respectful of the interview panel.Communication. When communicating with the interview panel look them in the eye. This shows a level of confidence. You should also communicate in a clear and concise manner where possible. This entry was posted in Career Advice, 'How To' Help, Interviews. Bookmark the permalink. Where in the World is Your Job Search - CareerAlley

Where in the World is Your Job Search - CareerAlley We may receive compensation when you click on links to products from our partners. You got to be careful if you dont know where youre going, because you might not get there. Yogi Berra Im on the road again this week and writing this from my hotel room. While Ive been in this city before, it got me to thinking about how job search differs depending on where in the world you are. Not that that should surprise anyone, but I never really gave much thought to it until this week. For one, depending on what country you are in, the questions can be very different. What is illegal to ask in one country, is perfectly normal to ask in another. Sometimes, even when you are looking for a job in your own country, it can feel as if you are on another planet.
